FeastFold

Privacy Policy

Effective September 23, 2026

This policy explains how FeastFold handles information when you use the iPhone and iPad app. FeastFold is designed to work without a FeastFold account or a FeastFold-operated processing server.

Information you add

FeastFold stores the receipt details you create or import, such as a merchant and date, item names and prices, participant names, item assignments, tax, tip, fees, discounts, payment status, and notes. Saved receipts and people are stored on your device. Receipt photos are kept in the app's protected local storage. Optional payment instructions are kept in the device Keychain and are not included in iCloud sync or receipt invitations.

Camera, photos, and receipt recognition

FeastFold accesses the camera only when you choose to scan a receipt. Photo import uses Apple's system photo picker. Receipt text recognition is performed on your device with Apple Vision. FeastFold does not send receipt photos or recognized text to an AI provider or to a FeastFold-operated server. Receipt photos are not included in FeastFold's iCloud sync or shared receipt snapshot.

Optional iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off until you enable it in FeastFold Settings. If you enable it, receipt records and saved people are synchronized through your Apple Account's private CloudKit database. Apple provides and operates iCloud and CloudKit under your Apple Account settings and Apple's terms. FeastFold does not write receipt history to a public CloudKit database.

Sync may be delayed or unavailable when your device is offline, iCloud is unavailable, or your account or storage has a limitation. Your local copy remains available. Turning sync off stops future synchronization after you restart the app; it does not erase information already in iCloud. To sync deletions, keep sync enabled while deleting saved data and allow CloudKit to process the changes.

Receipt invitations

If you choose to invite someone to a receipt, FeastFold shares one sanitized receipt snapshot from your private CloudKit database using Apple's CloudKit sharing. The snapshot may contain the merchant, items, participant names, amounts, and payment status. It excludes the receipt photo, payment instructions, unrelated receipts, and freeform OCR notes. Invitees receive read-only access in FeastFold.

You can stop sharing through Apple's sharing controls. A person who has already viewed, cached, copied, or exported information may retain that copy. Stopping access cannot recall information they already received or sent elsewhere.

Exports and sharing from your device

When you choose CSV or JSON export, FeastFold creates a file and presents Apple's share sheet so you can choose where to send it. JSON exports can include saved receipt data, people, payment instructions, and selected preferences. A detailed split shared through the iOS share sheet can include a payment instruction if you chose to include it. The app you choose to receive or store that content handles it under its own privacy practices.

Analytics, advertising, and payments

FeastFold does not include an advertising or analytics SDK, does not use a remote OCR service, and does not operate an app login or payment-processing service. FeastFold calculates amounts; it does not move money or connect to payment services.

Deleting information

Use Settings → Delete saved data to remove local receipts, people, receipt photos, and saved payment instructions. If iCloud sync is enabled, receipt deletions can sync to your private CloudKit database. If you turned sync off before deleting, local deletion may not remove information previously uploaded to iCloud. Removing the app alone is not a guarantee that iCloud records or copies held by invitees have been deleted.

Changes and contact
